agift in Your will
This is a huge honour for us and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your gift will continue to inspire organisations in Barnet to raise the bar on poverty and inequality.
How to make a Gift in your Will
You can make a gift by inserting a clause into a new will
By adding a simple codicil to an existing will
By writing a Letter of Wishes to your executors relating to a general provision in your will regarding charitable provision. You should clearly state - Our name: Barnet Giving and our registered charity number: 1125940
The Gift may be in the form of :
A fixed amount of Cash, or Property (e.g. shares), or
A residuary percentage either of your estate or of part of it (e.g. of the value of your home)
You should always seek advice from professionals regarding tax and legal matters, however in general:
All gifts in your will to registered UK charities are free of Inheritance Tax
If you give 10% or more of your estate to charity, IHT on its net value is reduced from 40% to 36%
These provisions can significantly reduce the amount of IHT be paid by your heirs, whilst barely affecting the amount that they inherit, if at all.

Please let us know if you make a gift to us in your will so that we can thank you properly and can keep you and your heirs informed of the impact of our work
